Bucklers Canteen, Bondi Beach
With Re:Love project managing the fit out of the old Sunset Grill and managing the ongoing operations of the venue Bucklers Canteen is our latest project.
Bucklers Canteen - the big hang out. Just offshore and right on Bondi’s beat, dominating the corner of Campbell Pde and Beach Rd, this clubhouse is just paces away from Bondi’s sand and surf.
A large canteen style diner full of communal tables, serving up gourmet grub at an absolute steal.
After procuring the premise and negotiating terms and contracts the word was out on the streets: as locals eagerly anticipating what was to come of the once dark and barren corner grill house.
This labor of love is the direct result of a powerhouse collective of the eastern suburbs most notorious bar/restaurant owners. A juggernaut collaboration between Re:Love, the creative efforts of Paul Wilson and George Gorrow (both co- founders and creative directors of Australia’s most internationally renowned fashion label, ksubi). Adding to the dream team, hotelier (and renowned tattoo artist) Rick Vaughn, his brother who is a recent L.A. expat, producer and Skunkhour's front man, Aya Larkin, alongside hoop shooting White Revolver's very own local legend Liam Constantine.
Opening night (August 2011) consisted of local friends and family engraving their name on the bar top (feel free to add yours), tagging the dunnies, hitting up the arcade games and shooting some stick for good measure.
Facilities also include surfboard racks, bicycle stands, a milk crate b-ball hoop (with Sunday arvo shoot outs) and drinking bowls for the hounds.
Bucklers is a restaurant that trades 7 nights a week and is open all weekend.
General game plan for Bucklers is: knock off, drop in, hang out.
